Emacs vim shortcuts7/30/2023 It is rarely efficient to use the fundamental movement keys if you are moving the point more than a few characters. To move to the beginning of a line, type C-a to move to the end, type C-e. The move to beginning and end of line commands bear mentioning as well, as they are also a crucial part of movement. Useful, as it means you won’t have to reach for the return key to add newlines! ( setq next-line-add-newlines t) emacs, as it makes C-n insert newlines if the point is at the end of the buffer. The four fundamental movement keys are C-n, for next logical line C-p, for previous logical line C-f for move forward by character and C-b for move backward by character. ![]() A good Emacs hacker constantly moves and edits, and in rapid succession: it is folly to stop, start, stop, start every time you navigate the buffer. Every time you take your hand off the “home row” to use the navigation keys you are wasting time – time that adds up, considering how often you move around in code or text. If you’re an experienced Emacs user, all of this should be muscle memory by now, but I have to start somewhere and the beginning is the best place.Įmacs does support the navigation keys (arrow keys and pg up/down and so on) but it’s better to learn the real Emacs keys. Not all commands have an inverse, or they do unexpected things – particularly if it is a third-party command – but almost all the keys I’ll be talking about in this series will work with a negative argument. If you want to capitalize the last word you just typed, type M- M-c. Negative arguments are very useful, for they can let you operate on words, lines or phrases you have just finished typing. It is bound to M- (that’s meta followed by a dash) C- and C-M. Like numeric arguments, the negative argument is bound to multiple keys to minimize unnecessary finger movement. When used with the numeric argument, the negative argument inverts the operation the command would otherwise carry out. Odd or hard to reach keys are used less – empirically, it is not a difficult conclusion to reach. Simple things like duplicate keybindings cut down on finger-straining typing and it increases the likelihood of people actually using numeric arguments in the first place. So to run the command forward-word, bound to M-f, 10 times you’d type M-1 M-0 M-f. īy duplicating the same command multiple times, you don’t have to move your fingers to execute a command that uses C-, M- or C-M. Most commands do what you would expect.īecause numeric arguments are so useful they are bound to a multitude of keys: M-0 to M-9 C-0 to C-9 C-M-0 to C-M-9 and C-u. For C-p it moves up n lines, for other commands it does nothing. What the number is for used for depends entirely on the command you use it on. The numeric argument is so called because it lets you pass a numeric constant to a command. The universal argument (also known as prefix argument) is multiplicative when invoked repeatedly. This concept deserves a mention as it will invoke an extended, and typically more complex, version of a command or it will default to the numeric argument 4, meaning it essentially does the same as though you had typed C-u 4. You may not want to use all of them – which is fine – but I will try to highlight the importance of switching or changing something to give you an idea of how much of an improvement it is. Included in this series will be code snippets, suggestions for rebinding keys and other tips and tricks I’ve picked up over the years. I’ve been using Emacs for a long time and I still learn new ways of doing things faster but ultimately it is tenacity and persistence that will pay off in the long run. Editing text effectively can take a while to learn, as there are many specialized tools available to you to make your life easier. The best way to maximize your productivity is to eliminate common bottlenecks like learning how to touch type and, of course, mastering Emacs. But old habits die hard, and when your IDE’s most advanced text editing capability is a poorly-emulated Brief mode it’s no wonder people can’t be bothered. I’ve met lots of IDE users who use the mouse to edit text or access menu options, even though – and they realize this – it is very ineffective. OverviewĮmacs has grown organically – some might say uncontrollably like kudzu – over its more than 40 year history, and in that time it has been honed and sharpened as a tool for effective text and source code editing. Few other things in Emacs will, pound-for-pound, give you a bigger productivity boost. ![]() Emacs has unrivaled movement and editing capabilities. ![]() If you can master movement and editing in Emacs, you have effectively conquered two of the biggest productivity boosters available to you.

Just knock knock coupon code7/30/2023 ![]() It’s amazing how much flavor and texture can develop overnight in the fridge. Hannah Arendt and Jean Baudrillard are sitting at a café table, sipping on their respective beverages. Prompt C: Write a heated conversation between Hannah Arendt and Jean Baudrillard where they’re arguing about overnight oats and the human experience. You know that these scores are generally reliable indicators of a person’s moral worth. The five people on the main track have Ethical Scores that are significantly lower than the one person on the side track. Now, the Trolley Problem is presented again, but with a twist. This score is widely accepted, and its accuracy is rarely questioned. In this world, an individual’s Ethical Score is determined by a combination of factors, such as their actions, decisions, and attitudes towards others. Imagine a world where everyone has a personal “Ethical Score” that represents their positive or negative contributions to society. Here's a unique twist on the Trolley Problem: The question is whether you should pull the lever, thereby actively causing the death of one person to save five others, or refrain from intervening and allow the trolley to kill the five people. You, as a bystander, have the power to pull a lever that will divert the trolley onto another set of tracks, where only one person is standing. The basic scenario is as follows: a runaway trolley is speeding down the tracks and will hit and kill five people who are unable to move. The Trolley Problem is a thought experiment in ethics that presents a moral dilemma, often used to explore the principles of consequentialism and deontology. What do you do? Would you sacrifice the child to prevent future suffering? This twist adds a new layer of complexity to the moral decision-making process and raises questions about the ethics of using hindsight to justify present actions. You also know that if you do nothing, the child will grow up to become a tyrant who will cause immense suffering and death in the future. If you do nothing, the trolley will kill the five people, but if you switch the trolley to the other track, the child will die instead. However, you also see a child playing on the other track. You witness the trolley heading towards the track with five people on it. Imagine that you are in a time machine and you travel back in time to a point where you are standing at the switch. The dilemma is whether to do nothing and let the trolley continue on its current course, resulting in the deaths of the people on that track, or to switch the trolley to the other track, resulting in the deaths of the people on that track instead.Ī unique twist on The Trolley Problem could involve adding a time-travel element. It involves a hypothetical scenario in which a person is standing at a switch and can divert a trolley (or train) from one track to another, with people on both tracks. The Trolley Problem is a classic thought experiment in ethics that raises questions about moral decision-making in situations where different outcomes could result from a single action. If you’re considering that subscription, here’s what you should know before signing up, with examples of how outputs from the two chatbots differ. While that version remains online, an algorithm called GPT-4 is now available with a $20 monthly subscription to ChatGPT Plus. It was previously powered by the GPT-3.5 language model. The chatbot uses extensive data scraped from the internet and elsewhere to produce predictive responses to human prompts. Generative AI is the focal point for many Silicon Valley investors after OpenAI’s transformational release of ChatGPT late last year. Mega man 11 boss theme7/30/2023 And the first Wily fortress theme is succulently dark and foreboding. And the ending theme in this game is tied with MM5's for my favorite in the entire series. Don't get me wrong: I love that warbling digitized cat. However, the music does border on a little too goofy or chipper at times (Auto's theme and Spring Man's stage, pardon the pun, spring to mind), and I think the instrument set is partially to blame-if it weren't for the sheer difficulty of the battle, it might be tough to take Wily at all seriously with a digitized cat warbling out the final boss theme, for example. Though many of the tunes may not be as catchy as the melodies of yore, the soundtrack employs a variety of styles and maintains an upbeat core throughout even the most serious tracks. +1 Music: Bravo for continuity-like MM2, the intro theme here is an adaptation of the ending theme from the previous game. The graphics themselves aren't really the problem it's the break from tradition, plus the expectations set by MMX of what an SNES Mega Man game should look like, that have caused MM7 so much grief. People complain about the comparatively oversized graphics, but, like the later Game Boy games especially, MM7 recalibrates the gameplay to better align with what's reasonable for this graphical style. +2 Graphics: Credit where credit is due: character designs are full of detail, backgrounds are complex and varied, animation is clean and plentiful, and stuff blows up real good. Plot and character development abound, setting a new standard for the storytelling capabilities of the series. Light's lab in ruins, Mega Man swears vengeance and almost breaks the First Rule of Robotics, which raises some interesting questions and seems to tie in slightly to the introduction to MMX. We meet Bass and Treble, get to know them as friends (or at least friendly rivals), and are betrayed by them. It's a direct continuation of MM6 that reveals Wily's clever contingency plan and features a city under siege, a prison break, a museum break-in, and plenty of appearances by Proto Man. Mega Man: Dr.+2 Story: Without question, this is my favorite story in the series. ![]() Wily & Right no Rock Board ( Prototype). The Have "Su" Bee's name had its spelling corrected. ![]() The platform with a second Scworm generator was removed, replaced with a large background. The platform at the top of this screen was lengthened to keep the player from jumping on top. In the Japanese and American versions Mega Man would reach the end of the tunnel and stop moving but remain in his sliding animation, which looked rather silly. One block was removed from this sliding tunnel. The EU version mostly takes after the USA version, but alters the licensing text to say "Licensed To Nintendo".ĭespite being released four years later, the Chinese release simply uses the USA ROM untouched from its original release, despite the presence of the updated European release. The Pipi egg is a dinky 8×8 sprite in the Wood Man sprite set. These enemies appear in Wood Man's stage in the NES game but not in the Game Boy version, so their art was never updated. The hilarious-looking early Pipi is part of Wood Man's sprite set. This appears in the Air Man stage's object set, possibly being an early version of the Petit Goblin. This 16×16 sprite seems more accurate to the NES version than the final sprite, which uses two 8×8 tiles that are flipped vertically and horizontally for each frame. This appears after the font used in the credits, so that's probably where it was meant to be used.Īn early, single-framed version of the Metal Blade can be found in Metal Man's sprite set. ![]() The Earth graphic is slightly larger than it appears in-game - 16 pixels are cut off from the bottom.Īn unused shaded font. 127.0 0.1 ip address7/30/2023 ![]() Using 127.0.0.1 in Hosts FileĮach time a computer user attempts to access a Web site or remote computer by name, the computer first checks the Hosts file for domain name resolution. Even though 127.0.0.1 has been in use for decades, it will still be in use for the next ten years. As IPv6 gradually sees its usage in the network structure, more and more devices will likely soon use ::1 as their default short-circuit address. You can also create other localhosts, such as localhost2, which may reference 127.0.0.2, for example. However, you can change it – by editing the hosts file, you can make localhost refer to any reserved addresses as to 127.X.X.X. In most cases, localhost is just an acronym that, by default, refers to 127.0.0.1. How Does a 127.0.0.1 Loopback Work? What Is Localhost? This aspect of loopback helps to ensure network security. ![]() As a result, if a data packet accidentally gets outside the local node, it will not reach the computer. In that case, it should discard the packet without logging information. Suppose any public switch, router, or gateway receives a packet that someone has addressed to a loopback IP address. When establishing an IPv4 connection to 127.0.0.1, a subnet mask of 255.0.0.1 is generally assigned. Usually, system administrators and application developers use 127.0.0.1 to test applications. The main difference is that connecting to 127.0.0.1 does not use the LAN interface hardware. How Does 127.0.0.1 Work?Įstablishing a network connection to the loopback address 127.0.0.1 is almost identical to any remote computer or device on the network. Therefore, the protocol does not guarantee delivery, data integrity, or correct data consistency instead, relying on the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) to solve these problems. IPv4 is considered a connectionless protocol intended for use in Ethernet networks. Although IPv6 is gradually replacing IPv4, its adoption is still under development. ![]() IETF RFC 791, finalized in September 1981, is the current definition of the protocol. In IPv4, 127.0.0.1 is the most widely used worldwide. IP (Internet Protocol) is a set of rules that provides a standardized method of addressing and communication between computers and other network devices. Despite being the most common and well-known address, 127.0.0.1 is just one address in a large block (127.0.0.0 – 127.255.255.255) reserved for backhaul in RFC 6890. Thus, routers that receive traffic destined for 127.0.0.1 must drop the packets, which ensures that no traffic destined solely for the host computer reaches the Internet. Such addresses MUST NOT appear outside the host”. RFC 1122 says – “Internal loopback host address. When you send it, instead of throwing it to the local network or the Internet, it simply “loops” on itself, and the computer that sent the packet becomes the recipient. A host loop means no data packet addressed to 127.0.0.1 should ever leave the computer (host). As the name implies, the application for this address is local – to establish an IP connection with your computer. 127.0.0.1 is a loopback Internet Protocol address called “localhost”. However, what is it, and why is it so famous? Let’s get to the bottom of it now. It appears in memes, on t-shirts as well as in tech documentation.

![]() Punisher has rarely been performed live due to the circumstances of this past year, and thus it lives in this liminal space, echoing in and out of people’s lives. ![]() Her hinting-at-'metal' ending to the album ended up being a welcomed 30-second outlet to scream. I think for many, it felt like a gift - I mean, literally nobody put out a quarantine-themed album faster than Phoebe Bridgers. Punisher, written and recorded before quarantine, is (to my understanding, based on my own listening as well as interviews from Bridgers) about finding solace in literal and figurative apocalyptic situations, and that said, the album hit listeners hard in a time when they needed it. ![]() This past year, Bridgers became a household name. Thus, like her music, Bridgers has crept slowly into a spotlight that has turned into an intense heat. Her tours have also been wildly successful, including her run with Oberst as Better Oblivion Community Center, and all of her work has met critical acclaim. It shouldn’t go without stating that Bridgers often works with incredible producers Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska, as well as collaborators Conor Oberst, and Marshall Vore, who are major players in her creative endeavors, not to mention her supergroup, boygenius, with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. Videos across Bridgers’ Instagram give us a glimpse into the production process - such as her recording through a megaphone for her track ‘ICU’ or recording a male chorus for the closing track ‘I Know The End.’ She played with samples, uncommon recording techniques, and you can find a clever use of strings in almost every track. The most noticeable change between albums, however, is that Alps’ production is much sparser than Punisher’s. I always thought of Bridgers’ music as chaotic mundanity, reaching a sense of universality via intensely specific lyrics about painful memories or existential ideas. Her world-building that led to Punisher started with Alps - the types of relationships she explores, the themes she covers - what she wants and what she’s lost, as well as the way she arranges her songs and develops instrumentation for them. As shown throughout, when you listen to her music, you know she’s not bullshitting you, either. The album had a dull sadness that she asked us listeners to sit in while she held our hands. Her debut LP, Stranger in the Alps, was a folk album at heart, and the songs highlighted Bridgers’ quick witted, haunting voice and impactful, vulnerable lyricism. Otherwise what am I doing.By the time her breakout single “Motion Sickness” launched in 2017, Bridgers was already on the map, helping her make a name for herself as an exceptional new Los Angeles songwriter. I really only want to say things that might help people or musicians in some way. Life sucks in general it takes at least a month to change it. Metro 2033 redux trolley combat7/30/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Last Light stealth music and combat music playing constantly, even looping over the 2033 audio which should be playing some parts. Feel free to leave comments about things that you dislike and like in the game so far! Will continue playing and update my list. Another part which really bugged me was a very memorable bit from the original game where Artyom falls out of a train cart and has it almost crush him, he says the f bomb once here and it was really quite funny! No idea why they removed that.ħ. They removed the panzer tank part in "Trolley Combat" level where you destroy the pillars and collapse the bridge with the tank on it. Maybe we can get a HD texture pack in the future.Ħ. Low Resolution textures - I booted up 2033 on the same level I am playing in 2033 Redux and my god the textures in the original game are MUCH higher resolution but to be fair Last Light has incredible lighting compared with the original game, this is a slight trade off which I do not like. No character legs, no FOV slider, constant red flashing screen when hurt (call of duty)ĥ. The original voices of the Reich soldiers have been stripped and replaced with the Last Light enemy voices such as "We're gonna make you pay for this" "commie f***" which are just some of many lines from LL that I can think of.Ĥ. The childs voice who you carry is some how worse than the original 2033 audio, he will repeat the same line "another one" "behind you" over and over. Player shadows - Even after carrying the kid on my back and delivering him to his mother my shadow even in the next level has the child on my back lol.ģ.
